If you wind up with a boring, miserable life because you listened to your mum, your dad, your teacher, your priest or some guy on TV telling you how to do your ****, then YOU DESERVE IT.

Listen to the entire Butterfly Imp album for free.
Butterfly Imp's first studio album entitled Walking Tall is now available to listen to in its entirety, absolutely free.
Street Urchin
Here's a little excerpt taken from Sunday night. I thought it would be nice to learn more about how the recording studio works so I booked it and together with the help of some of my friends, we set the mics up and had everything working. I recorded my playing over a Billy Cobham track called Street Urchin from a play-along book/CD called 'By Design' (which corresponds with the album of the same name).
First Mandala Video
Finally, my Mandala Drum from Synesthesia Corp has arrived! I haven't yet seen many videos on the internet of users playing their Mandalas alongside their acoustic kits, so I thought it would be nice to give it a try.
I feel like I've only scratched the surface with this thing, even after spending an entire evening exploring its sounds and features with the proprietary software. I know it works with Logic, Cubase, Ableton, and any other DAW but I haven't come that far yet.
BFI Live Drum Solo
This is a clip taken from the Butterfly Imp show at Sticky Fingers, Gothenburg, on Saturday April 11th.
I had a theme of flashy rolls around the kit and stuff to rile up the crowd before the encore tune, Where the Sun Don't Shine. So, rolls around the drums, a bit of flair, some hand/foot rolls and 3-way backsticking.
A Gratton Track
This is a short play-along track from Rick Gratton's book 'Rick's Licks' that I was trying some ideas on. It's really the best way of getting better as a musician as well; otherwise I might not have noticed that my left hand needs strengthening, especially when playing ghost notes in the context of a groove, because at the moment it's sounding a bit swung when it shouldn't. I hope it is somewhat enjoyed anyway!
A Tony Williams Lick
Another simple lick, this one made popular by the late Tony Williams. I found it in a book I have about Dennis Chambers, called Serious Moves. It'd be cool to see other people try it and maybe share with us more applications.
Crazy Paradiddles
A good demonstration of how such a simple sticking can be absolutely played to death. Simple RLRRLRLL played in 32nd notes. Forgive the stiff-as-a-corpse swing feel. It's been a while...
Baiaosticks Stick Trick Lesson
This is a drum video lesson which shows you how to play Gerson Lima Filho's classic Baiaosticks groove. It's certainly not easy, and is more of a novelty than anything else. If showmanship is something that frightens and irritates you, then it's best to move along. Remember to take this one seriously slow at first!
Sample Groove
Here's a little clip from last night, taken mainly just to test the quality of the camera, and also the quality of Vimeo and its compression rate. I had a fleeting suspicion it was slightly better than Youtube.
